Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions - We have answers.
Is there a difference between a private or personal chef?

Yes. A private chef solely prepares for one specific client on a full-time basis. A personal chef has multiple clients to prepare numerous meals for over a long period of time.

Do you need to use my kitchen equipment or will you utilize your own?

It depends. Of course, we have our own utensils and tools that we prefer using, but sometimes it is more feasible to use what’s readily available. This is always discussed prior to services.

Is a personal chef affordable?

The costs of planning, traveling to stores, buying quality foods, preparing/cooking foods, and cleaning are exhausting, expensive, and time-consuming. When you compare this to ordering services from a personal chef, it just makes more sense. It’s a straightforward, hassle-free process. You inform them of any dietary requirements and what you prefer, and they craft delectable meals, especially for you.

Think of it this way: You take time out of your day to travel to a restaurant and back home. Your food allergies or special requests weren’t honored when the order ticket was given to the kitchen. You wait for your meal. When you’re done, you grimace a little at the bill, leave a 20% tip, and leave. Phew – you could’ve simply ordered ready-to-go meals or had a personal chef cook there at home in your own kitchen.

Truth is – it is completely affordable if you change your mindset. With diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and other conditions on the rise, we need to eat healthier and contribute to our well-being.

Are you covered by insurance?

Absolutely. CheFresh is covered by full liability insurance. We are also certified by ServSafe Sanitation. This means we are trained in food safety preparation and procedures.

Do I need to do anything before you come to my home?

A clean, clutter-free space helps enormously. Please have the sink, countertops, and stove cleared away. This includes a considerable amount of room in your refrigerator and freezer.

What is used for packaging foods and can I reheat them?

We supply choices for packaging. There are reusable plastic containers, glassware, or microwave/oven-safe containers to choose from. Whichever ones are used, we will provide detailed heating instructions and when to freeze meals (if not consumed within a few days).

How long should I keep my meals?

This all depends on how perishable the ingredients are, whether or not the food was precooked, and other determinants. No worries – we will discuss storage questions after planning your customized menu.

How long does it take you to cook?

It varies. Depending on the menu and the number of meals in total, it can take several hours. We will work together and determine a day that fits your schedule.

Do I need to be home?

You do not. But if you are, that is fine, too. We work efficiently in a kitchen alone without distractions. This helps us maintain concentration and boundaries for safety reasons.

What's the cost for weekly meal prep and the dinner party?

We charge $300-400 (plus the cost of groceries) for the weekly meal preps, $75/hr (plus the cost of groceries) for catering services.
